About Me
Hello, my name is Mike and I am the author of this blog. I created this blog to track my journey as I try to bring awareness to Cystic Fibrosis through different charitable athletic endeavors. My niece, Maggie, has Cystic Fibrosis and she is the inspiration behind much of the work that we do for CF. I am the youngest child of six (four sisters and a brother) and I grew up in St. Louis, MO. My family has expanded in the recent years to include 6 “Outlaws” and 11 nieces/nephews. Our family is stretched from DC to California with stops in between. I currently live in Saint Paul, MN with my wife Lisa and son Grady.
My passion for triathlons has become more pronounced in the recent years. I have always admired the effort it took to complete cycling events and triathlons as I watched them unfold on TV. I initially got into mountain biking as my primary interest. Once I moved away from Colorado and the mountains I began to focus on road biking. Road biking lead to triathlons and here I am now, a triathlete. A little know tidbit is that I got to meet Mark Allen right after he presented to my company in 2002. He is an amazing person and I did not realize how cool that really was until recently.
My main view on life is to focus on the good that every situation presents. I believe that in every situation that we experience in life there is a silver lining that makes that experience worthwhile. There are many opportunities to grow, learn, and influence the lives of others. We have the power to make a difference in everything we do. It takes a little clarity and reflection to realize this in the worst situations, but in the end we are stronger because of them.
Enjoy the blog, feel free to comment, and follow my journey as I succeed, fail, and reflect. Life is short, be yourself and have fun!
